Silage Clamp Installation for a Jersey Dairy Farm: Project Overview
Alderston Dairies is home to a herd of 300 Jersey cattle in the East Lothian countryside, needed a new silage clamp to replace their Ag Bag system.
Working with our installation partner M3, we supplied and installed a 3m high AGRI retaining wall system designed for long-term durability and high storage capacity.
The clamp was completed in just three days, providing the farm with a more efficient, safer, and Environment Agency-compliant silage storage solution.

Installation Timeline: From Delivery to Storage in 3 Days
Using 2.5m and 5m long precast units, M3 installed the clamp structure in just three days. The freestanding units were placed on a compacted sand–cement footing, with joints sealed to ensure SSAFO compliance.
The new clamp offers improved silage quality, easier handling, and safer working access compared to the previous storage method, giving Alderston Dairies a quality and future-ready silage solution.

The U walls serve as an efficient dividing structure between clamp bays, while integrated stair sections create a safe working platform for farm staff. Using large-format units decreases the number of joints that need sealing, speeding up installation and improving durability.
