Retaining Walls for Deal Farm AD & Biogas Facility

Over 600m of precast bund and clamp walls installed for a new anaerobic digestion plant.

Precast Walling for Biogas Containment & Silage Storage : Project Overview

We supplied over 600 metres of modular precast retaining wall systems for a new anaerobic digestion facility in Norfolk. The project included a combination of secondary containment around digestate tanks and a three-bay silage clamp – all designed and installed to meet Environment Agency and SSAFO regulations.

The modular nature of the system enabled fast installation and future adaptability, with each section tailored to withstand the high loads and corrosive environments typical of biogas plant infrastructure.

Installation Timeline: Efficient, Compliant & Built to Last

All units were delivered and installed by M3, working from concrete foundations laid by others. The DLF walls’ tongue and groove detail ensures a good connection and alignment between the bund walls.

The AGRI L-walls formed the outer clamp walls, while AGRI T-walls separated each bay, creating a simple, durable solution with a minimal footprint and quick turnaround.

Precast Agri Walls

Why Our Precast Systems Were the Ideal Fit

Constructing containment structures in a biogas setting requires resilience, precision, and speed. Digestate is highly corrosive, and clamp walls must withstand significant lateral loading that is common in silage production.

Our products were chosen for their engineered strength and proven durability.

Once installed, the DLF10GS joints were sealed on both faces to ensure full SAFFO compliance, while the clamp walls were constructed using the AGRI L and T units to maximise storage and layout efficiency.

Our modular approach led to fewer joints, fewer on-site adjustments, and faster installation, with the potential to expand or reconfigure the clamps in the future if operational needs change.
